Benkenstein leads England Men U19

Luc Benkenstein will captain England Men’s Under-19s in their three-match Youth ODI series against Sri Lanka.

The Essex all-rounder, who captained one match in the Youth ODI Series against Australia last summer, will lead the team in front of his home fans at the Cloud County Ground in Chelmsford, where the opening match will be played under lights. on Friday June 28.

The 16-man squad consists of nine players who featured in the ICC Men’s U19 World Cup in South Africa.

World Cup captain Ben McKinney and Hamza Shaikh have not been considered for the option to feature in the three-day First-Class County Select XI match against the West Indies in early July. The squad for the two-match Youth Test series will be announced later this month.

England Men’s Under-19 coach, Mike Yardy, said: “We have selected an exciting squad for the series, with a mix of some players currently playing in the Vitality Blast and some younger players for whom it will be their first time in the series. a selection under 19 years.

“As always, it is a great opportunity for the players to perform in an England Under-19 shirt and experience international cricket.”
