US sec. of State Blinken meets MP Benny Gantz in Israel

US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken met with Knesset member and Chairman of National Unity Benny Gantz in Israel on Tuesday, the State Department announced.

They discussed the proposal to conclude a hostage agreement as part of a ceasefire in Gaza, which would secure the release of all hostages and increase humanitarian assistance throughout the territory.

Blinken praised Israel for the proposal and stressed that Hamas must accept the deal without delay.

He reiterated that the proposal, in addition to reuniting hostages with their loved ones, would advance Israel’s long-term security interests, and suggested that it would create the opportunity to restore calm along Israel’s border with Lebanon, allowing Israelis to return to their houses could return.
