In a tragic incident, a 26-year-old woman died on Monday, April 29, after undergoing a caesarean section under the flashlight of mobile phones at Sion Hospital in Mumbai. The procedure resulted in the delivery of a stillborn boy weighing approximately 4 kg. The deceased, Saheedunnissa Ansari, a resident of Bhandup, died a few hours later. The incident took place on Monday amid frequent power cuts in the city, leading doctors to decide to perform the caesarean section under torchlight from mobile phones. Following the incident, Mumbai’s civic body, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), formed a 10-member committee to investigate the matter. The committee includes doctors from the JJ state hospital. The officer further revealed that Ansari had suffered from postpartum hemorrhage (PPH), a condition that causes severe vaginal bleeding after childbirth.
