Mayde Creek HC J. Jensen moves to Katy ISD Assistant AD

Katy ISD announced Thursday the promotion of Katy Mayde Creek head coach J Jensen to an assistant athletic director position at Katy ISD.

Jensen, who has led the Mayde Creek football program for the past three seasons, is a Mayde Creek alum and spent the vast majority of his coaching career at Katy ISD after a stint as a player at Eastern New Mexico.

He first served as junior high coach at Katy in 2003, after two seasons he became the offensive line coach at Mayde Creek in 2005, where he spent six seasons. In 2010, Jensen moved to Alief Taylor, where he was the co-offensive coordinator before returning to Katy ISD in 2014 as an assistant at Katy Taylor, where he was part of a state semifinal team in 2019.

Jensen was named head football coach at Mayde Creek in March 2021, where he spent the past three seasons. He replaces Katy ISD assistant athletic director Pat Dowling who is retiring. Jensen will begin his new role on July 1 and will remain on campus at Mayde Creek to assist with the transition.
