The Cowichan Bulldogs D-line dominates the Westshore peewees

Atom

Cowichan’s Atom Bulldogs fought hard against the Westshore Warriors at McAdam Park last weekend, but finished on the losing side by a score of 45-18.

Finn Bellis handled the quarterbacking duties for the team, amassing 154 yards – all to Deven Randhawa, who scored two of the team’s three majors – and 64 yards on the ground, including a touchdown of his own.

Brett Fifield, Austin Shaver and Tayt Clarke also carried the ball for the ‘Dogs, while Liam Freeland led the defense with five tackles, two for loss and a sack.

However, Westshore’s attack could not be stopped, but Cowichan did slow them down considerably. After the Warriors scored 19 points in the first quarter, the Bulldogs’ defense gave up and made them work extra hard for each subsequent score.

The Bulldogs will play host to the Victoria Spartans at McAdam Park on Saturday, May 4 at 10am.

Peewee

Secure another win for the Peewee Bulldogs as they claimed a 35-0 victory over the Westshore Warriors last weekend.

“It was a close game that we finished with a crushing defense,” said head coach Justin Young. “Our entire D-line had a field day as Josh ‘Happy’ Dadswell, Devon ‘Junior’ Thomas, Reef Perry and Vaughn Williams all tore up the Westshore offensive line.”

The Bulldogs’ offense went heavy against the Warriors, with two passing touchdowns to Rylen Heyer and about 60 yards of total offense.

Charlie Freeman had three touchdowns and Harrison Plaxton added another.

“It was an exciting game moving pieces around and seeing who could play what,” Young said. “We are ready for next week against the Spartans.”

The match starts on Saturday, May 4 at 11:30 am at McAdam Park.

Junior Bantam

The JB Bulldogs have yet to find the win column after falling 30-8 at home to the Westshore Warriors last weekend despite a closer game than the box score suggests. Their next chance comes at home on May 4, when the home crowd will support their efforts to defeat the Victoria Spartans, who are also looking for their first win of the season. Kick-off is at 1:00 PM
