SKUAST-J Academic Council approves several agenda items

JAMMU, May 2: At the 25th meeting of the Academic Council of SKUAST-Jammu, held at Chatha Campus here today under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Prof. BN Tripathi, several agenda items were approved after a cursory discussion.
Key agenda items included; industrialization of the dual program with Western Sydney University Australia from academic session 2024-25, practical training for students, extensive research exposure and establishment of collaborative learning space at the university, research publication by PhD scholar and guidelines for PhD synopsis, improvement of intake capacity for admission to undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs for the academic session 2024-25, modification of the requirements for participation in the Experiential Learning Program, involvement of PhD students as teaching assistants and profit sharing in experiential learning units.
In his remarks, Vice-Chancellor Prof. BN Tripathi emphasized the importance of holding regular Academic Council meetings to devise and amend rules, which contributes to continuous improvement in the quality of education. He emphasized on enhancing the teaching competencies of university teachers through continuous capacity building programs in modern teaching tools and methodologies.
He called for a renewal of teaching methodologies so that they are more practice-oriented and contribute to a better ranking of the university. He emphasized that teachers should take the lead in raising awareness about patents or intellectual property rights (IPR) during their interactions with students and researchers. He recommends that the recommendations be effectively implemented without delay in the interest of scientific excellence.
The agenda of the meeting was presented by Dr. SK Gupta, Registrar and Member Secretary of the Academic Council. The meeting was attended by Directors, Deans of Faculties, Heads of Departments, Regional Research Stations and Institutes, University Librarian, Joint Registrar (Academics) Dr Bharat Bhushan and a Post Graduate Student (Ph D). Dr. Amit Jasrotia, Professor and Dr. Subash Kashyap, Associate Professor were the rapporteurs.
