Yuqi’s debut EP is shattering records and dominating the global iTunes charts

(G)I-DLE’s Yuqi has sold more than 500,000 copies of her debut EP, “YUQ1” within six days of release.

According to music industry tracker Hanteo Chart, the EP sold a total of 550,170 copies in its first week of release, which is the highest sales of a female K-pop solo artist’s debut EP in its first week of release.

According to Yuqi’s agency, Cube Entertainment, all the songs from the seven-song EP, including the main track “Freak”, have charted on Melon’s daily Hot 100 chart. “YUQ1” topped iTunes’ top albums chart in six regions, including Russia and Chile, as well as iTunes’ top K-pop music albums chart in 15 regions, including the United States, England and Germany.

Yuqi launched her solo career with “YUQ1” almost six years after debuting as a member of (G)I-DLE in 2018. The group is known for the hits “Latata” (2018), “Tomboy” (2022), “Nxde” (2022) and “Queencard” (2023).

The singer will continue to promote the EP with an appearance on Mnet’s music show, “M Countdown,” on Thursday, May 2.
