ISP responds to a two-vehicle crash on I-64 – Washington County News

Illinois State Police Troop 8 responded to a two-vehicle crash on April 24 at approximately 2:33 p.m. on eastbound Interstate 64 at milepost 54.

According to Illinois State Police, preliminary information indicates that the driver of a gray 2012 Mercedes-Benz van, Steven Burson, 58, of Clearwater, Florida, was reportedly traveling eastbound on Interstate 64 near milepost 54 in Lane 2. The driver of a 2013 black Nissan SUV, Neil Poulin, 35, of Denver, Colorado reportedly drove directly in front of Burson’s vehicle in Lane 2. Poulin reportedly began to slow down because another vehicle in front of him was changing lanes. Burson reportedly failed to reduce speed and struck Poulin’s vehicle. Burson then allegedly drove to the right of the roadway and came to rest in the ditch next to the roadway on the right. Poulin reportedly stopped toward the right shoulder, just past mile marker 54. Burson was cited for following too closely. There were no injuries and no lane closures occurred as a result of this accident.

The Nashville Police Department, Nashville Fire Department, Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Washington County Ambulance also responded.
