Elaine F. McGraw

Elaine F. McGraw, 93, of Youngsville, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024, surrounded by her family, at the Rouse Warren County Home.

Elaine was born in Warren on February 8, 1931 to the late Earl and Sarah Rudolph Johnson and was raised by her foster parents Raymond and Mabel McManus. She worked as a nursing assistant at Warren State Hospital for 24 years, retiring in 1990. After her retirement, she continued to volunteer at the state hospital. She was a member of the Watson Grange and the Friends of the Rouse. In her spare time, Elaine enjoyed camping at Red Oak Campground, taking trips to the casino and spending time with her friends, but most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a mother and grandmother to all and was sharp and witty to the end. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Surviving Elaine are her children Betty Bunce of Youngsville, Sharon Swartz of Florida, Arthur McGraw of Youngsville, Alan (Eva) McGraw of Russell, Julie McGraw of Youngsville; sisters Margaret Lewis of Sheffield, Helen Williams of Tidioute, Freeda Carr of Tidioute; brothers Donald Johnson of Cherry Grove, Frank “Bill’ Johnson of Youngsville, Curtis Johnson of Titusville; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and foster parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis McGraw, in August 2006; a son Frank McGraw; brothers Charles Johnson, Harold Johnson and Larry Johnson; sisters Edna Mae Sheckler, Frances Davis and Esther Hannah.

Friends will be received on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Nelson Funeral Home, 314 North Main St. Youngsville, and from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Sunday, at which time a funeral service will be held with Pastor Jim Hunt officiating. . Burial will follow in Youngsville Cemetery.
