Conor McGregor gives green light for Merab Dvalishvili vs. Sean O’Malley after hilarious Sphere video, earns spot on his fight card

Conor McGregor is a difficult man to please. So when someone is praised, the world takes notice. And this time the nod of approval has come from Mystic Mac for Merab Dvalishvili, the frontrunner to take Sean O’Malley’s bantamweight title.

See, O’Malley wanted a piece of Ilia Topuria to be a two-division champion. But Dvalishvili’s latest initiative to clinch title contention has impressed the Irishman. In recent months, Dvalishvili has endeared himself to UFC fans thanks to his promotional skills. On the mic, off the mic, it doesn’t matter, the Georgian gets it done.

Some time ago, ‘The Machine’ started posting funny skits aimed at various people in MMA, while his last two videos targeted none other than Sean O’Malley. What were these videos, you ask? Good…

First, he posted a video of a Sean O’Malley look-alike and himself opposite The Sphere, separated by ‘The Schmo’. All three men then break into a dance. Hilarious! Words don’t do it justice, you have to see it to believe it. And since this is exactly what Conor McGregor did. And then he stamped it with his seal of approval.

Dvalishvili posted another sketch yesterday. The video shows him talking in Spanish to some men digging a grave for ‘Suga’ Sean O’Malley himself. He also expressed his wish for the fight to take place in the Sphere in September this year.

Dana White and his team have already scheduled their debut at the venue for later this year. Several fighters, including Conor McGregor, have expressed interest in competing on that card. For Dvalishvili and O’Malley, however, it appears the UFC will likely book their fight sooner than expected.

Dvalishvili vs. O’Malley; A bantamweight matchup for the ages

O’Malley recently scored an impressive victory in his first title defense against Marlon Vera. After the win, he called out the likes of Ryan Garcia and Ilia Topuria. In the post-fight interview and even a few days after the fight, he claimed that he was not interested in fighting Dvalishvili.

However, negative reactions from both fans and other fighters seem to be on Suga’s hands. Even Topuria had tweeted O’Malley asking him to give Dvalishvili his dues first. When exactly does the fight take place?

Since both fighters are healthy and have no serious injuries, the UFC will look to book that fight as soon as possible. The promotion currently has its PPVs calculated through the end of June. Therefore, O’Malley vs Dvalishvili could happen in July or August this year. It’s highly unlikely that the promotion will wait until September before putting it together.
