Driver of Prajwal Revanna, who leaked sex tapes, missing; Suspended JD(S) leader to reach Bengaluru on May 15

As the row over the obscene video scandal surrounding former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda’s grandson Prajwal Revanna intensified on Thursday, sources said the driver of the suspended JD(S) leader, who had leaked the sex tapes, had gone missing.

The driver Karthik had worked for Prajwal Revanna for thirteen years and had gotten into a fight with him a year ago over an alleged land transaction.

Meanwhile, former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy has alleged that some influential leaders are behind the driver’s disappearance, citing Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar and wondering who sent Karthik to Malaysia.

Sources cited, news agency Indo-Asian News Service (IANS) reported that the sitting MP and NDA candidate from Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, Prajwal Revanna, who had sought time to appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT), is expected to arrive in Bengaluru on May 15 midnight.

The SIT has not yet responded to his request and Prajwal Revanna was expected to land in Bengaluru from Frankfurt on Friday.

Meanwhile, Revanna has filed an application for anticipatory bail in the Bengaluru sessions court.

Speaking to the media, Dy CM Shivakumar asked, ‘Is brother saying that? That means he knows everything. Let him get the information from the central government. I am not crazy to send him (Karthik) abroad. I’m a street fighter. I don’t need to do politics by hiding people. They (the Deve Gowda family) need it.

“That boy (Karthik) had claimed that he had given the pen drive containing obscene videos of Prajwal Revanna to BJP leaders. Let the discussion about the release of the pen drive take place later. Let us not deviate from the real issue.”

Responding to Leader of Opposition R Ashoka’s demand for the government to vacate the seat of power if it is unable to arrest Prajwal Revanna, Dy CM Shivakumar said, “Ashoka is in a constitutional position. He raised his voice on other issues and on this matter he does not open his mouth. He should take state BJP president BY Vijayendra and others and meet the victims of the video scandal.”

“They must assure them of justice and give them courage. Former Prime Minister Deve Gowda and former Prime Minister Kumaraswamy, who claim to have respect for women, should meet the victims by going to their homes. Why don’t they do that?” Dy CM Shivakumar wondered.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to revoke Prajwal Revanna’s diplomatic passport.

On Tuesday morning, the JD(S) suspended Prajwal Revanna after the Congress government in Karnataka formed the SIT to probe sexual assault allegations against him.

Commenting on the issue for the first time on Wednesday, Prajwal Revanna said: “The truth will soon prevail. I am not in Bengaluru to attend the examination. I have communicated with CID, Bengaluru through my lawyer.”

In a post on social media, Prajwal sought seven days for Revanna to appear before the SIT.
