Watch: Bangladesh batsman throws bat and helmet over boundary after marginal LBW decision

Watch: Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana threw her bat in frustration after a marginal lbw call as she walked off the field during her side’s T20I defeat to India today (May 2).

Bangladesh came into the match having already lost the series and were comfortably defeated by India in the first two matches. Sultana came into bat on the back of a successful powerplay partnership for Bangladesh, with Murshida Khan and Dilara Akter putting on 46 in the first 6.3 overs. However, they lost wickets at regular intervals thereafter, with their run rate dropping significantly.

Sultana stayed at the crease to anchor the innings, scoring 28 off 36 balls. Bangladesh were 108-4 with 10 balls left in the innings when Sultana, opposite Radha Yadav, moved down the field to a good length ball. While trying to hit the ground, she misjudged the line of the ball and the ball hit her front pad. Despite the impact looking high, with Sultana almost two meters further upfield and the ball hitting her thigh pad, the referee’s finger went up.

As she left the field, Sultana showed her frustration at the decision by shouting at the dugout before throwing away her bat and helmet as she walked across the boundary line.

This is not the first time that tension has risen between both parties. Last year, Harmanpreet Kaur was given a two-match ban for showing dissent over an umpire’s decision, smashing the stumps with her bat. She also criticized the referee after the match.

Bangladesh ended their innings at 117-8, which India chased down with nine balls to spare as Shafali Verma scored a half-century.
