Voluntary evacuation issued for several Montgomery County neighborhoods along the W. Fork of the San Jacinto River

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – Montgomery County Judge Mark Keough has issued a voluntary evacuation order for several neighborhoods along the West Fork of the San Jacinto River due to continued rising water levels.

The voluntary order applies to flood-prone areas in the River Plantation and Mosswood neighborhoods, as well as the Woodloch area.

“Residents in these affected areas are urged to evacuate as water levels are expected to continue to rise 10 to 12 feet,” according to a notice posted on the Montgomery County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

The post says shelters are available in southern, eastern and western Montgomery County and pets are welcome at all shelters.

Three shelters mentioned are Calvary Baptist Church located at 816 N. Blair Ave in Cleveland, St. Simons and Jude Catholic Parish located at 26777 Glen Loch Dr. in The Woodlands, and the Lone Star Community Center located at 2500 Lone Star Pkwy in Montgomery.
