Thomas and Uber Cup 2024 updated schedule, fixtures, results and live stream details

Thomas Cup and Uber Cup have historically been dominated by Indonesia and China respectively.

During the finals of the BWF Thomas and Uber Cup 2024, the best badminton countries in the world will compete for the prestigious team titles in Chengdu from April 27 to May 5. The 33rd edition of the Thomas Cup and the 30th Uber Cup will be held simultaneously, continuing the tradition since 1984.

The Thomas Cup, the World Badminton Men’s Team Championship, has been dominated by Asian powerhouses throughout its 74-year history. Indonesia leads the way with 14 titles, closely followed by China with 10. Malaysia (5 titles), Japan (1), Denmark (1) and defending champion India (1) round out the list of winners.

In the Uber Cup, China was the most successful country with fifteen titles so far. Japan (6 titles), Indonesia and the United States (3 each) have also tasted glory. However, it was South Korea who emerged victorious in 2022, beating China to claim their second Uber Cup.

For India, the 2022 Thomas Cup triumph is considered one of the greatest achievements for Indian shuttlers. The Indian men’s badminton team started the tournament as the least favoured, putting up a historic performance and clinching its first Thomas Cup title.

HS Prannoy’s gallant performance of defeating Rasmus Gamke in the semi-final, Kidambi Srikanth’s famous win in the final against Jonathan Christie, and the sensational performance of Indian duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty ensured the team won the golden medal won.
