‘Summer House’ West Wilson Is ‘Friendly’ With Lindsay Hubbard, But Keeps ‘Closer’ With Carl Radke (Exclusive)

“Despite knowing Lindsay better before summer started, I talked to Carl significantly more than I did to Lindsay,” the ‘Summer House’ newcomer told PEOPLE

Lindsay Hubbard brought West Wilson to the Summer House for season 8, but now he considers himself better friends with her ex-fiancé Carl Radke.

“Despite knowing Lindsay better before the summer started, I talked to Carl significantly more than I did to Lindsay,” Wilson, 28, told PEOPLE on Wednesday, May 1, while celebrating the launch of Rehab Monster at Five Iron Golf in New York City. “I’m still friends with both of them, I’ve reached out to both of them, but naturally we’ve all hung out with all the guys a number of times, and so I probably keep in closer touch with Carl.”

Hubbard, 37, and Radke, 39, called off their wedding at the end of the summer, and on the May 2 episode, Radke told Hubbard that his parents didn’t think they should get married.

When I rewatched the show, “I looked at everything very much through Carl’s eye,” Wilson said.

Hubbard couldn’t make it to the Hamptons for the first weekend in their shared home because she and Radke had a trip to Washington, D.C., on the Fourth of July, and Wilson admitted he was “nervous” about going in without the former publicist .

“But looking back, I think it helped me because I was able to have every original friendship and interaction (without) Lindsay over my shoulder or whatever,” Wilson said.

While Hubbard and Radke’s relationship was a central part of the current season, fans have been craving Wilson and housemate Ciara Miller’s budding romance. But during the May 2 episode, Wilson told Hubbard that he had been talking to other women. “The door is open for other girls,” the sports journalist said during the show.

Also on the May 2 episode, Paige DeSorbo and Craig Conover discussed the future of their relationship. The Southern charm The 35-year-old star told DeSorbo that he might “start to have some resentment toward her” if they wait a while before getting married and having children.

“I’m not at a place yet where I can even choose where we … I would potentially want to live and raise children,” said DeSorbo, 31. “These are all questions that I have no idea about, but I do know. it is with you.”

Conover said he didn’t like being “insecure in our relationship” and said he wanted to have his first child at 40.

“Being married and being a mother, I’m not ready for that yet,” DeSorbo said in a confessional. “So I put a Band-Aid on things because I don’t want to deal with it until I can figure out what’s going on in my life.”

Wilson and Miller, 28, remain coy about what’s going on in their lives and whether they ever made their relationship exclusive or whether they stayed together after the summer. However, Wilson promised that viewers will get answers Summer housethe upcoming reunion. “It’s inevitable,” he told PEOPLE.

Even the reality star’s mother has been asked about his relationship status.

“My mom tells me people ask her out in public,” says Wilson, who received a job offer from Complex in the May 2 episode after becoming unemployed earlier this summer. “They say, ‘How’s Ciara doing?’ I’m learning how many people watch this show and that they are Bravo fans in general. I was such a Bravo virgin. It’s all very surprising, but in a good way.”

Wilson teased that he hoped to “explore” his relationship with Miller after filming wrapped.

“It’s a somewhat abnormal situation to be in that house, where every weekend you see someone, you’re in this microscope, always together and with the exact same group of people,” he said. “I enjoy seeing how you and your friends interact with my friends. So there were a lot of real life things that I wanted to explore and unpack. Summer was fun, but there is so much more to life and dating than you can discover on a TV show at home. I wanted to see how that would go.”

Ahead of filming his first reunion, Wilson said he plans to go into it with a “whatever happens, happens” attitude.

“I think everyone’s biggest concern is what their outfit is, to be honest,” he added. “I think part of my appeal is not being confrontational and not so into shouting and arguing. That comes naturally to me, so I’ll probably catch everyone’s vibe and ride the waves.”

However, Wilson admitted that viewers had welcomed his participation Summer house put some pressure on him.

“I’ve gotten so many comments and DMs like, ‘Don’t let us down,’” he said. ‘Or people who say: ‘We know it can’t be that good. We’re waiting for the other shoe to drop.’ When you hear something enough, it creeps into the back of your mind. But I trust myself and am proud of who I am.”

Although the invites haven’t been sent out yet Summer house season 9, Wilson said he would “definitely” return to the Hamptons.

“I had a blast,” he added. “I really didn’t have any expectations during this whole process because it’s all new, but it was so much fun.”
