S’pore man, 28, arrested for allegedly using scissors to rob victim of S$5,000 cash in Kembangan – Mothership.SG

Singapore Police have arrested a 28-year-old man for allegedly robbing a person with scissors along Jalan Selamat in Kembangan.

The perpetrator also allegedly demanded that the victim hand over cash worth S$5,000, according to a May 3 press release issued by the Singapore Police Force (SPF).

Man arrested within 16 hours of reporting

Police said they were notified of the case around 4:35 a.m. on May 2.

Within 16 hours of the report, officers from the Bedok Police Division identified the man and arrested him through ground searches and with the help of police camera and CCTV footage.

Cash amounting to S$3,400 was subsequently recovered.

The man will be charged in court on May 3 with the offense of armed robbery with pain.

If convicted, the suspect could have been jailed for not less than five years nor more than twenty years, and punished with not less than twelve strokes of the cane.

Report robberies as soon as possible

Police also advised the public to remain calm and take note of the perpetrator’s physical appearance and distinguishing features when confronted with a robbery.

They are also encouraged to call the police as soon as possible.

“The police will make every effort to arrest those who commit violent crimes and will take strong action against them in accordance with the law,” the police said.
