Congress booth agent attacked by CPI-M workers in Kannur, police say

Kannur (Kerala) (India), May 2 (ANI): A college teacher, who acted as a stand agent for the Congress Party during the Lok Sabha elections, was allegedly attacked by Communist Party of India (Marxist) workers in Kannur, the the police said.
A college teacher, who served as a stand agent for the Congress during the Lok Sabha elections, was attacked with iron rods, allegedly by CPI-M workers, including the party’s unit secretary, Payyannur police said.
Rajith Kumar P (32), is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce at the Co-operative Arts and Science College, Madayi.
The incident happened on Tuesday when Rajith was attacked with iron rods while returning home on his motorcycle around 10 pm.

“They stopped me about 200 meters from my house at Korom near Maniyara. They hit my head with iron rods and punched my back. I was saved because I was wearing a helmet,” Rajith Kumar told ANI.
The case has been registered under sections 341,323,324,34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Five suspects have been named in the FIR: Suresh TT, Ajaayn TV, Mahesh Iruttan, Suresh VV and Pranav TV
He is currently admitted to Priyadarshini Hospital in Payyannur.
According to the FIR registered by Payyannur police, he was attacked by several CPI-M workers, including the party’s branch secretary. (ANI)
