Woman discovers her late grandfather kept every photo she sent him twice a month as a keepsake

Grandparents play a crucial role in everyone’s lives. Our parents love us, but they often try to discipline us for our own good. Our grandparents, on the other hand, are all about spoiling and loving us. In fact, their love is the most unconditional love there is, and that is why when they die, we lose a part of ourselves too. In a heartwarming story from u/pplaidllama, she shares how she found out how much her grandfather loved her after he passed away.

The story is titled: “My grandfather died unexpectedly, I discovered he had kept every postcard I ever sent him.” The granddaughter found something that made her very happy when she went to clean out her grandfather’s house with the family. She said: ‘I discovered he had kept every card I had ever sent him. Each. A. A. I sent them twice a month for the past ten years to keep him updated on my life. Finding these postcards in an easily accessible place made her realize that her grandfather had probably flipped through those neatly stacked postcards quite often.

While educating people about her grandfather’s life, she said he only recently turned 93. They also went out to dinner to celebrate at his favorite steakhouse. She even joked that if it weren’t for her grandfather, the steakhouse would have been out of business since the 1970s. The man was as healthy as he could be, completely independent and a very happy soul. For four decades he even had his own house, where he also died. She said: “He died suddenly and peacefully in his sleep in the house he had occupied for 40 years.” If this isn’t a blessing in disguise, we don’t know what is.
